Research on Oral Map in Regional Dialect Using Google Map

This study aimed to create a voice language map of disappearing dialects in Tokushima PrefectureYoshino River basin. In addition, a digital archive for the purpose of storage and recording of the dialect speech through a linguistic geography survey was actualized. The "Speaking Linguistic Atlas" added to a multimedia database using the dialect speech was published on the Internet. Dialect audio obtained in this study was placed in the monitoring sites on a map. The user clicks the desired location on the map where a window will open with a feature that allows the user to listen to the recording. We fulfilled the purpose of actualizing a digital archive of a disappearing dialect, which is a widely well-known cultural asset. This archive preserves the dialect permanently.

Abdunabi Ubul : received his B. Sc. degree in economics and Management information f rom Xinjiang University, China in 2004. He has received his M. Sc. degree from Department of Economics, Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences, University Of Tokushima, Japan in 2008. Received his Ph. D. degree from Department of Information Science and Intelligent Systems. University Of Tokushima, Japan in 2012. His research interests include information retrieval, natural language processing and document processing.

Hidekazu Kakei : received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. Degrees in architecture from Nagoya University, Japan, in 1988 and 1990 respectively, and his Ph.D. in architecture in Kobe University in 2007. Since 2003 he has been an Assoc. Prof. in the Institute of Socio-Arts and Sciences, Tokushima University, Japan. His research interests include applying ICT to spatial and environmental design. He is a member of Architectural Institute of Japan and the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

Yukako Sakoguchi : received her Bachelor of Arts in Language and Culture degree in Faculty of Foreign Languages, Department of Foreign Languages Japanese Major in Himeji Dokkyo University, Japan in 2010,and her Master of Arts degree in from Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences, University of Tokushima, Japan in 2012. Since 2012 she has been a Research Fellow of the Japan society for the Promotion of Science. Since 2012 she has been also a part time instructor of the Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Tokushima University, Japan. Her research includes Geographical Linguistics with Geographic Information System.

Shinsuke Kishie : received his Bachelor of Japanese literature, Department of Literature in Aichi University, Japan in 1978. Since 2000 he has been Prof. in the Institute of Socio-Arts and Sciences, University of Tokushima, Japan. His research includes Japanese Linguistics and Socio-Linguistics. He is a member of The Society for Japanese Linguistics and Vice-chief editorial director of Dialectological Circle of Japan.

Up to now, it has groped for the direction of drawing the linguistic map to clarify the regional distribution of the dialect in the field in the linguistic geography in Japan, and interpreting the map. Moreover, the dialect voice is reflected on the language map, and it has not come to open it to the public in full scale on the Internet though there is a research that started arranging the dialect voice from the viewpoint of data base in Japan. In the present study, to achieve the purpose of standing in the aspect of a digital archive making, wide the cultural heritage of dialect, informing, and preserving it permanently, various people have a possibility that finishes being well-known by opening it to the public on the Internet a traditional dialect voice in various places. In addition, it becomes possible to introduce the diversity of the dialect in Japan to people in all parts of the world by making the homepage multilingual. It wants to promote a digital archive making about the voice dialect material, and to introduce one made 'Linguistic map of the voice' by Google example as information processing technology of contents of the image and the image and one example using the web delivery system technology.
